Paraquat Causing Parkinson’s Disease Lawsuit

Paraquat dichloride is an active ingredient in herbicides marketed as Gramoxone, Ortho-Paraquat, Para-SHOT, Parazone, Quick-Quat, Firestorm and Helmquat. Paraquat has been sold in herbicides since the 1960s and typically applied via knapsack sprayers, handheld sprayers, crop dusters (aerial sprayers), trucks with pressurized tanks and tractor-drawn pressurized tanks.

Paraquat can enter the human body through absorption, inhalation and/or ingestion, and can damage dopamine-producing neurons in the brain. Scientific research and studies have shown that exposure to Paraquat causes neurological injuries including Parkinson’s disease.

In November 2022, farmers, agricultural workers and other persons who were exposed to Paraquat and developed Parkinson’s disease brought legal action against the manufacturers of Paraquat, alleging that the manufacturers knew that Paraquat was unreasonably dangerous to human health before being sold in the 1960s.

If you were exposed to Paraquat and now suffer from Parkinson’s disease, you may be eligible for compensation.
