Matthew Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin is a Partner with the firm and currently serves as the firm’s Trial Counsel, with emphasis on the firm’s first-party insurance litigation. He also manages the firm’s complex, commercial, and criminal defense practices.  Mr. Baldwin was previously an Associate at the Ver Ploeg & Lumpkin law firm in Miami, where he assisted clients in multimillion-dollar insurance coverage disputes and bad faith litigation. He has represented numerous individual policyholders, bankruptcy trustees, an SEC Receiver, and corporations against their insurance companies.

Mr. Baldwin also served as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County for over six years.  As a criminal prosecutor, Mr. Baldwin prosecuted a wide variety of crimes before specializing in homicides as a Felony Division Chief. He has substantial jury trial experience, completing over 40 jury trials (including 10 homicide trials) to jury verdict. He was the lead trial counsel in several homicide cases featured in the national media, including cases profiled on CourtTV, The First 48, Dateline, and 48 Hours Mystery.
